The Role

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will support the running of the shift and show warmth and support to residents and their families; helping to promote independence and dignity and positively enhancing the lives of individuals in care.

Senior Care Assistant Responsibilities;

  • Ensure the delivery of quality of care by continually assessing resident’s needs

  • Communicate professionally and warmly with visitors and families and other health care professionals, whilst taking responsibility for the support, physical and emotional wellbeing and social needs of residents

  • Devise person centred care plans whilst monitoring, reviewing and updating these when necessary

  • Promote high standards of care by ensuring all staff are supervised appropriately and shifts run in a smooth and efficient manner

  • Promote the home in a professional manner, becoming actively involved in raising awareness of the home within the local community

  • Administering medication to residents

  • Providing physical and mental stimulation by taking part in recreational and social activities with residents, both individually and as a group

  • Helping to maintain accurate records and undertaking ongoing training

  • Generally promoting resident’s independence, choice, dignity and respect by delivering the very best standards of care


The Person

An ideal Senior Care Assistant will have the following skills and values;

  • A genuine caring nature

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually

  • Flexibility to be able to adapt to the needs of residents

  • Ideally a holder of an NVQ L3 in Health and Social Care, or at least NVQ L2, along with a level 3 in Safe Handling of Medication
